USGS Retirees membership is open to retired USGS employees, current USGS employees (affiliate members), and persons retired from or working in an agency having a longstanding cooperative relationship with the USGS (Friends). Dues are $10 per year with the dues waived for the first year of membership.

Apply for Membership

  • Bring your skills and interests and volunteer for a position with the USGS Retirees. If we don’t already have a position fitting you, reach out to an officer and let us know how you would like to pitch in. We will put your talents to use.

  • We need local persons to organize local retiree groups, arrange occasional local gatherings, and serve as conducts to the leadership and employees of the local science centers in your state. Check the list here to see if there is a vacancy for your state. SEE LINK HERE

  • We need current USGS employees to help the USGS Retirees understand local science centers and communicate with their leadership. The position is open to all grades, occupations, and experience levels. Check the list here to see if there is a vacancy for your state. SEE LINK HERE

  • Every two years we staff a committee to plan the next reunion. Let a regional representative or an officer know if you might be interested in serving on a reunion planning committee. SEE LINK HERE

  • Regional editors solicit, gather, organize, and help write brief articles about local events, new USGS retirees, and memorials to members who have passed. Feel free to offer assistance to the current regional editor, if the position is filled.SEE LINK HERE

  • Regional representatives serve as voting members of the USGS Retirees Board of Directors. They utilize their knowledge of the USGS organization and extensive contacts with current and retired USGS employees to achieve the mission of the USGS Retirees Organization -helping USGS retirees stay in touch with one another and the USGS.   • The USGS Retirees has an elected president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. The president serves a two-year term and can stand for re-election once. Once elected, the vice-president, secretary, and treasure serve until they chose to vacant their position. Office duties are described in positional SOPs.

  • The USGS Retirees has a need for several individuals to help maintain our webpage and to keep our social media posts to Facebook and Instagram current.
